Here’s a fun idea! A Community Tree with ornaments designed by members of the neighborhood expressing wishes for the environment or the world! It could also be decorated according to any theme that your particular group enjoys or simply decorated with symbols or images that express something about each community member.
Friends and neighbors take a small baggie that includes instructions and a thin wooden disc to decorate any way they like and return it to the ready bucket. The owner of the property collects it, seals it and then hangs it up on the tree outside in the front yard for all to see. You can use markers, paints or colored pencils to decorate. The thin wooden discs can be found at your favorite craft store. I get mine at https://www.michaels.com/50ct.-3in-diy-ball-wood-ornaments-by-artminds/10667848.html
If you don’t have a tree in your front yard that could be used this way think about ways you might be able to use an indoor tree or space to have a community tree. I can easily imagine a community tree like this in the entry way of an elementary school or a smaller tree or chain of these ornaments in a classroom. What other places can you imagine a community tree?
Have fun!
